After the pour and safety

After the pour

The After the pour stage on the Investing & burnout tab takes you from the cast flask to clean metal:

  1. Quench and devest, with the wait before quenching for your investment.
  2. Pickle the tree to remove oxides and flux, and deal with any fire scale.
  3. Cut the castings off the tree.
  4. Recover the button and sprues for the next melt.
  5. Clean the flask and the work area, and dispose of the spent investment safely.

Then the pieces are ready for finishing.

After the pour, step by step

Never quench a flask with stones cast in place. Let it cool. See Casting with stones in place.
