Alloying

The Alloying tab works out how many grams of each metal go into an alloy.

The alloy calculator

Using the calculator

  1. Pick an alloy. There are recipes for about 40 precious and base alloys: golds, silvers, platinum, brasses and bronzes.
  2. Enter the metal needed in grams, or click Use the amount my tree needs to take it from the tree on the Viewer & tree page.
  3. Add an extra for melt loss if you like. If your casting log has learned your real melt loss, it's offered here too. See Casting log.

The table shows each metal's share, its weight in grams and ounces, and its value at the current spot price.

Use a master alloy for everything that isn't gold switches gold recipes to fine gold plus a ready-made master alloy, the way most casters buy it.

Alloy facts

Under the table you'll find the alloy's density and melting range, and a short note about its group (gold, silver, platinum, brass or bronze). The sources for the recipes are at the bottom of the page.
